Ahmed Fakroun

Having released music since the early 1970s, Ahmed Fakroun had his international breakthrough with New Wave-inspired Arabic electro pop hits like Words of Love and Soleil Soleil in the mid-1980s. This pioneer of cross-pollinating raï music with European art rock has persevered through war, political oppression and popular revolution to continue bringing out his musical message of truth and freedom. Since the rise of the internet he has enjoyed a well deserved late career resurgence and brought his mixture of funk and poetry into new arenas and soundscapes.
