Mark Ernestus' Ndagga Rhythm Force  – kaleidoscopic dream techno from Dakar/Berlin  Mark Ernestus, godfather of German techno, meets Dakar's hottest mbalax musicians, Ndagga Rhythm Force. On stage, polyphonic cascades emerge from sabar drums, while Mbene Diatta Seck's vocals meander through a dubby echo. Ernestus can be found behind the mixing desk, producing and adding icy chords from his Prophet-5 synth. The group's latest album, Khadim – praised by Pitchfork, among others – might be described as Afro-futuristic dream techno, created by human hands on wooden and goatskin drums.
